Belitung Island Trip – Day 2

The second part of our story to the magnificent island in Indonesia called Belitung.

Tanjung Kelayang Day 2. The charter boat would sail from this beach. Before we went here, Mas Jun stopped at his friends house to borrow some life jackets and snorkel gears for us. The weather was so lovely today. No clouds, clear sky, sun shone so bright, I prayed hard to Allah to make it stay until we’re back from the sea. So, our adventure begin! Island hopping~ The boat has just left the beach, but we already welcomed by this breathtaking view. Along the way, I was just sleep at the deck, look up to the clear sky, and breath freely -catch a lot of oxygen to bring back to Jakarta lol-. We passed some beautiful small island with beautiful rocks and white sands. While I was wondering about our possibility going there, the Captain told us that we can stop by the islands later (yeay so excited!). Our first destination was Lengkuas Island (the furthest island from Tanjung Kelayang).

Lengkuas Island. It’s famous because of the 100 years Lighthouse. After 30-40 minutes sailing, we’re arrived. MY GOODNESS! Another breathtaking moment. The view, the sands, the clear water, the rocks, just amazing. Mas Jun asked us, how long we wanted to stay in this island. We said, until we satisfied! Haha. After running along the beaches, we were going up the lighthouse! It has 18 floors, so…a leg day in holiday? No probs lol. Climbing up was so tiring, but when we arrived at the very top of the lighthouse, we did not want to go down. My brother said “Heaven is not that high, ya?” :”)

After took a lot photos of the scenery from the top of the lighthouse, we’re going back down. My Mom didn’t join us to go upstairs and we found her enjoying a fresh coconut water beside the beach. We all screamed “ME WANT TOO!!” hahaha, after a tiring walk to the top, a coconut water was really refresh us. (Melody said that a coconut water in US: $10, so she was happy it’s only $1 here lol). We continued our adventure by exploring the island with our island boy, Mas Jun! We played at the seaside, climbed the rocks carefully -with the help of Mas Jun-. We found a lot of sea creatures! From sea cucumber, sea urchin, crab, fish, scallop, oysters, and a nemo (clown fish) nest. Melody ate raw oysters and enjoyed it, she even asked for more! Me? No thanks.

It was super fun! Ryan climbed the rocks to the top (now the rocks even higher than yesterday). We were continue explored the island by climbing the stacked rocks. Ryan climbed so fast and we couldn’t follow his step. He called this as rocks-hopping and he really enjoyed it. Me and Melody were only climbed 3-4 rocks, but the view was amazing enough. After took photos of this breathtaking view, Mom showed up from the bottom of the rocks (yea she was just sitting at the beach while we’re exploring) and told us to move to another island since it was already 12PM. Ryan was hopped too far that I had to scream to called him. We were moving, bye Lengkuas Island! Thank You Allah for this beautiful experience.

There were 8 of us in the boat (me, Ryan, Mama, Melody, the Captain, Mas Jun, and 2 Mas Jun’s friends) but only me & my brother that want to go snorkeling. So, the Captain took us to one snorkeling spot near Lengkuas Island, and we jumped to the water! Whoaaa there were a lot of fish! and the coral was so colorful. After around 20 minutes on the water, the clouds were covering the sun so I cannot see underwater as clear as before. I climbed back to the boat and had lunch with others (yes we’re having our lunch at the boat) while Ryan still enjoying his time down there with Mas Jun (he’s taking a lot of underwater selfie :-P).

Then we continued our journey. We’re heading back to Tanjung Kelayang, but as our Captain has promised us before, we can stop by on the island we want! Yeay!

As the boat sailed, I looked into the sea. The water was soo clear that I could see the bottom! While I was staring to the bottom of the sea, I saw starfishes and suddenly scream “Starfish!! Mas Jun, could you take one to the boat for us?”. Then the Captain stopped the boat, I searched the starfish once again, told the location to Mas Jun, and he swam to take it. Not long after that, he bring a starfish to the boat. Welcome, PATRICK! YEAY we’re soo happy! Thank you Mas Jun!

First island: Babi Island. The boat couldn’t approach the beach because there were so many corals. So we took a walk to the beach from the middle of the sea. There was nobody else except us, we’re so happy ha! Ran over the beach, took selfie, enjoyed the moment… aaah, so refreshing. Melody found a sand dollar that she searched from the beginning. She was so happy to found it. That was my first time seeing a sand dollar. Mas Jun said it was a starfish egg that dried. It’s beautiful.

Second island: Kepayang Island. After the boat parked at the beach, I ran along the seashore (yes, I ran a lot, it’s the excitement to be at the beach). The soft and white sands, the clear water, the clear sky, the rocks, the scenery, breathtaking. I was enjoying my view to the sea and didn’t realized that there was a little bar behind me. When I walked inside, my brother was already laying on the bench peacefully. So, this island was used to have lunch, take a shower, pray, and rest a while. There were about 10 bathrooms with shower and closet (much better than my hotel bathroom), Mushola, and a restaurant. Mas Jun asked us “Do you want to see turtles?”. We said yes right away! My Mom didn’t come with us and just slept on the bench (she was so lazy to walk far 😛 kidding mom).

There’s a turtles conservation on the island, but we need to take a walk around 10 minutes to get there (Mas Jun told us it would be 1 KM, but actually it was not that far). We walked into the forest, it was so refreshing, so green, and we could heard insects voice along the way. Then we found another beach, but while we want to ran over there, Mas Jun told us that was not the way to the conservation (okay sir, I will follow your tight schedule lol).

The Turtle Conservation. The places was so natural that it blended with the nature. I love it. We welcomed by a lizard (biawak) that ran so fast and hid. Then we saw the turtles. There were only three turtles on that day, because they just released around 30 turtles the night before (that was so beautiful, wasn’t it?). The guard showed us a place where the turtle eggs were incubated. Wonderful. So this conservation is trying to help the turtles from being eaten by the lizard (biawak). Thank you for creating a place like this.

Secret Beach. On our way back to the main beach, we lost Ryan. As I expected, he was going to the secret beach that we found earlier. When I found him, he was peacefully lying on this hanging chair. Then I saw the beach, so beautiful. We named it secret beach. Nobody’s here although there was a cottage behind the beach. The rocks even more beautiful. The sands was big like a grain. There’s a tire-swing on the beach. The palm trees. All relaxing. We sat on a chair-tree, 4 of us, discussed about Karimun Jawa, Belitung, this beautiful beaches, about why God put that rocks here in Indonesia and in Belitung island, and many more. Until days were getting late. We decided to go back to the boat and continue exploring Belitung.

Third Island: Pasir Island. Just like the one in Kepulauan Seribu, the island were only consist of sands, and starfishes! Melody took a photo of me with 3 Patricks! Ryan dig a hole on the sands then Melody jumped into it and buried by the sands 😛 We enjoyed our time in here.

Fourth Island: Batu Berlayar Island. Why it called Batu Berlayar? The rocks in this island stacked look like a sailing boat. As simple as that. The beach was beautiful. I did not want to go back to Jakarta. Can I just build a tent and stay here for one more night?

Before we finished the hopping island, me and my brother asked the Captain to take us to one last snorkeling spot. At first, he didn’t let us to go snorkeling because the wave was not good. But he’s really kind and search a place for our last snorkeling spot!

The boat approached Tanjung Kelayang. Our journey on hopping island ended. So long, beautiful islands and beaches… I was so wet and need a shower before get in the car. But after we walk around the beach on Tanjung Kelayang, there was no water at that time. Then I chose to sit on the back of the car with the rest of the stuffs haha. We stopped at Mas Jun’s friend house where he borrowed the lifejacket and snorkel gear. He asked whether we can took a quick shower at their house, and they let us to! Yeay! But what happened next was really interesting: the bathroom located outside the house, without roof (the sky is the roof), and the wall only covered my body to toe (not my head) :)) I asked my brother to watch over the door while I was showered. It was so hard to take a shower on that place, what an experience :)) On our way back to the city, I just remembered that we haven’t done pray zuhur and ashar! So I asked Mas Jun to stop by the nearest Mosque. Alhamdulillah, we still can finish our prayer in time 🙂

Mie Atep. The famous food in Tanjung Pandan. If you go to Tanjung Pandan or Belitung, you must try this food. It tasted good! I ate 2 full plates… There were a lot of picture frames hanging on the restaurant wall. I noticed all of it was a photo of celebrities with the Mie Atep owner, it’s something usual in Indonesia. But not usual for Melody, she was wondering “Who is she (the Mie Atep owner) that she can be on all the frames, is she famous? I want to take a picture with her!”. Then I asked a waitress to call the Mie Atep owner to our table, and then Melody took photo together with her. After that, I told her that she is the owner and not really famous, she take a photo with Indonesian celebrities that come here, and that’s already explained her the rest. We laugh together =))

When Mas Jun dropped us at the lobby hotel, he said “I will give you time to shower and rest, then I will take you to have a seafood dinner.” Our reaction was “Whattt? We already full. That Mie Atep was not our dinner?” Hahaha. Then at last it was only me and my brother joined him to have dinner 😛

Rumah Makan Diva. Ryan ordered Mie Kuah Kepiting, while I ordered Sapo Tahu. Both tasted sooo good, with a big portion. We’re so full after that and really have a good sleep after one tiring day at the sea.

*We do not know about the price to charter a boat, borrow a snorkel gear, island entrance ticket, lighthouse entrance ticket, a plate of mie atep, and how much it cost at RM Diva, because all the payment was done by Mas Jun. It included on the trip package.
